Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression Therapy at Moore Spine Center

Chronic pain from herniated or bulging discs can be one of the most excruciating experiences someone can go through. Without the proper treatment, discs will continue to feel pressure and cause pain to the sufferer, which can severely limit someone's quality of life. At Moore Spine Center, we know just how serious these conditions can be, which is why Dr. Robert Moore is dedicated to providing professional chiropractic care to patients suffering from spine-related issues. At Moore Spine Center in Irvine, we offer spinal decompression to help patients find natural relief from their pain or discomfort.

What Is Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Spinal decompression therapy is a technique in which the spine is gently stretched to reduce pain and treat a variety of painful issues dealing with the discs between the spinal vertebrae. These include:

  • Bulging discs
  • Herniated discs
  • Sciatica
  • Degenerative disc disorders

Spinal decompression is an FDA-approved treatment for back pain, and as many as 86% of patients have felt relief following decompression therapy.

How Can a Chiropractor Help?

If you're suffering from back pain, sciatica, or a disc disorder, our chiropractor at Moore Spine Center can help determine if spinal decompression is the right treatment option for you. To do this, we will conduct a series of physical exams and possible imaging, including x-rays, to determine if the root of your pain can be resolved through spinal decompression. If you are pregnant, have had a history of aneurysms, or have advanced osteoporosis, this treatment might not be right for you. Fortunately, Dr. Moore can help determine what chiropractic care can be given to help you find some much-needed pain relief.

Does Treatment for Spinal Decompression Hurt?

Spinal decompression does not hurt, and in fact, can be a relaxing experience for patients. The treatment is done using the help of harnesses strapped to a person's abdomen while they are on a traction table. This traction table gently pulls and stretches the spine as we closely monitor the overall process to ensure optimal results. Spinal decompression only takes around 30 to 45 minutes per session, and patients can notice long-lasting relief after 12 to 20 sessions. Dr. Moore will examine your overall progress and might also combine spinal decompression with other techniques such as massage therapy to improve your recovery process.
